Meat Loaf, born Marvin Lee Aday ( Dallas , September 27 1947 ) is an American rock singer and actor. He was well known for his rock hit Paradise by the Dashboard Light from his album Bat Out Of Hell ( 1977 ), which he sang with Ellen Foley . The lyrics and music of Jim Steinman .

Meat Loafs performances are characterized by theatrical acts. In an interview in the Volkskrant in 2003, he said: "Most rock bands think that it is enough just to play their songs I People should not be dragged into a drama every corner of the stage should be used [....... ] A little jump up and down is not enough. You have to pull out all the stops and empathize with a role, every day. "

In 1994 Meat Loaf won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Solo for his "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Will not Do That)".
